Sydney - Adelaide - The Ghan - Alice Springs - Ayers Rock - The Olgas - Kings Canyon - Alice Springs - The Ghan - Katherine - Darwin

Day 1 - Sydney, Indian Pacific or Melbourne, The Overland

Board the Indian Pacific in Sydney for an unforgettable journey across NSW. Melbourne passengers board The Overland and begin your journey across Western Victoria. Enjoy all the comfort and style of a fine hotel on this modern rail adventure to Adelaide. (Dinner not included on The Overland).

Overnight Stay: Indian Pacific or The Overland.

Day 2 - Adelaide, The Ghan

Change trains in Adelaide and this evening continue your journey on The Ghan through golden wheat fields, vast sheep stations, rugged mountain ranges and scattered outback towns. Cross the magnificent red sand hills of the Simpson Desert and be amazed by the spectacular landscape of the Northern Territory. (Lunch is not included for passengers travelling from Melbourne).

Day 3 - The Ghan, Alice Springs

This morning enjoy breakfast in the elegant Restaurant Car of The Ghan, and then spend some time in the spacious Gold Kangaroo Lounge. An excellent place to socialise or enjoy the passing scenery. Arrive in Alice Springs late morning and be met and transferred to your hotel.

Two Night Stay: Alice Springs, Lasseters Hotel Casino.

Day 4 - Alice Springs

Today you are free to explore Alice Springs, the 'Capital of the Outback' at your leisure. It's where the Arrernte Aboriginal tribal group have lived for 20,000 years and where pioneer men and women gave "tough" a new meaning. It's where they race camels, hold hilarious holiday regattas in dry river beds and is home to the stunning scenery of the Western and Eastern MacDonnell Ranges.

Day 5 - Alice Springs, Ayers Rock

This morning transfer by mini-coach to Erldunda, where you will meet your tour crew for lunch. Pass Mt Conner on your way to Ayers Rock. Early this evening savour a glass of Australian wine and cheese as you watch the sun set over Ayers Rock (weather permitting). Tonight you are free to enjoy one of Ayers Rock Resorts many restaurants.

Two Night Stay: Ayers Rock, Desert Gardens Resort.

Day 6 - The Olgas - Sounds of Silence Dinner

Scenic FreeChoice Inclusions All inclusive, choose from a camel ride through the desert to a walk around Uluru with a naturalist. Please note that Ayers Rock may be closed for climbing due to bad weather or high winds. This afternoon travel to the 36 rounded domes of the Olgas (Kata Tjut a) located in the Ulur u-Kata Tjut a National Park. Tonight, experience unique dining at the award-winning Sounds of Silence dinner. From a desert location, watch the sun set over Ulur u before feasting on local gourmet produce.

Day 7 - Kings Creek Station - Watarrka National Park - Kings Canyon

Travel to Kings Creek Station before continuing on to Watarrka National Park. Soak up the atmosphere of Kings Canyon and walk to the rim of the canyon or stroll along the canyon floor.

Overnight Stay: Kings Canyon Resort.

Day 8 - Telegraph Station - Royal Flying Doctor Service - Alice Springs
See the brilliant colours of the MacDonnell Ranges as you approach Alice Springs. Visit the Telegraph Station and learn the history of how the town was created, before stopping at the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Scenic FreeChoice Dining: All inclusive, choose from immersing yourself in Aboriginal culture at the Red Centre Dreaming dinner show to enjoying a relaxing buffet meal with CAD 20 of Match and Play gaming vouchers at your hotel.

Day 9 - Alice Springs

Day 10 - Alice Springs, The Ghan

Late this afternoon rejoin The Ghan to continue your journey north. As you journey through the rusty landscape of the Red Centre and on to the tropical splendour of the Top End, relax and enjoy the superb Gold Kangaroo Class. The elegant cabins have a comfortable 3 seater lounge for day travel which coverts to upper and lower sleeping berths by night. Each cabin is also fully serviced by your own steward with fresh sheets, pillows and quilts.

Day 11 - The Ghan, Katherine

Arrive in the town of Katherine early this morning and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the day at leisure before rejoining your tour crew for dinner tonight.

Day 12 - Katherine Gorge Cruise - Kakadu National Park

Enjoy a guided cruise through Katherine Gorge. Travel north and enter the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park where you will visit Nourlangie Rock and see Aboriginal rock art.

Two Night Stay: Kakadu Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn.

Day 13 - Yellow Waters Cruise - Bowali Visitors Centre

Cruise the Yellow Waters billabong where you may encounter brolgas, jabiru or crocodiles basking on the bank! Visit the Bowali Visitors Centre and this afternoon you can choose to relax by the pool or travel to Ubirr for views over the East Alligator wetlands (subject to seasonal conditions). There is an opportunity this afternoon for a scenic flight over Kakadu (own expense).

Day 14 - Litchfield National Park - Wangi Falls - Darwin

Travel to Litchfield National Park and see Florence and Wangi Falls, large spring-fed natural pools surrounded by lush rainforest. Travel to Darwin for a brief sightseeing tour. Tonight enjoy a Sunset Cruise farewell dinner on Darwin Harbour. Return to relax in the spacious comfort of your 1 bedroom apartment at the Saville Park Suites.

Two Night Stay: Darwin, Saville Park Suites, 1 Bedroom Apartments.

Day 15 - Darwin - Scenic FreeChoice

Scenic FreeChoice Inclusions: All inclusive, choose from a jumping crocodile cruise on the Adelaide River to observing wildlife at close range at the Territory Wildlife Park.

Day 16 - Darwin

Your tour concludes after breakfast. This morning bid farewell to your new found friends.
