Travel into the Kalahari Desert via Rehoboth. Scenic sunset drive (in open vehicles). Overnight in Kalahari Desert. [D]

Day 2: (SUNDAY) KALAHARI DESERT- FISH RIVER CANYON

Travel through Kalahari, see Kokerboom (Quiver tree) forest. Continue via Naute Dam, and northern fringes of Fish River Canyon. Overnight near Fish River Canyon. [BD]

Day 3: ( MONDAY) FISH RIVER CANYON - LÜDERITZ

Travel to Aus. Possibly see ‘desert horses’ on entering Namib Desert. Arrive in Lüderitz ± midday. Afternoon peninsula scenic drive. Overnight in Lüderitz. [BD]

Day 4: ( TUESDAY) LÜDERITZ - MALTAHÖHE

Visit Kolmanskop, a deserted diamond town and museum. then visit Duwisib Castle. Continue to Maltahöhe region for overnight. [BD]

Day 5: (WEDNESDAY) MALTAHÖHE - NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK

Early start to Sossusvlei. 4x4 scenic drives into heart of Namib Desert. Visit Sesriem Canyon, Solitaire en route past Naukluft Mountains. Overnight near Namib Naukluft Park. [BD]

Day 6: (THURSDAY) NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK - SWAKOPMUND

Travel through Kuiseb Canyon towards coast. Packed lunch. See ‘Welwitschia Mirabilis’ plants said to grow older than a 1000 years. Visit Moon Landscape. Arrive in Swakopmund late afternoon for overnight. [BD+LP]

Day 7: (FRIDAY) SWAKOPMUND - WINDHOEK

Visit Walvis Bay lagoon. Continue inland towards Usakos and Karibib. Visit Henckert’s Centre, Herero graves, and handicraft market in Okahandja. Arrive in Windhoek late afternoon. [B]
